Press Release Body = (Cranston, Rhode Island, USA) The new film, ITALIAN AMERICANS AND FEDERAL HILL, kicks off Rhode Island\'s Italian Heritage Month with three events at the Columbus Theater, Providence, Rhode Island. This acclaimed film is expected to be a sellout by members of the local media and the Italian American community.
Independently produced in Rhode Island by Seven Fishes Productions, LLC, the documentary was filmed on location in Providence, Rhode Island\'s "Little Italy," and features Federal Hill residents, priests, entrepreneurs, politicians and more. The film\'s soundtrack consists of live recordings of traditional Italian folk and classical music as well as contemporary songs. Even former Providence Mayor, Buddy Cianci, weighs in on various subjects from a 2001 interview. The film project has received a warm response from the public and superb advance reviews.
A strong demand for tickets required the addition of a matinee on Sunday, October 1st at 2PM, to complement the nearly sold out events on Friday and Saturday evening. According to producer Jon Raben, "ticket sales have gone through the roof," as word of mouth and media attention has spread the word.
Events include complementary refreshments from local Federal Hill businesses and live performances by artists featured in the film\'s original soundtrack. Guest speakers at each of the three events will include cast members and local Italian American luminaries. Doors open an hour early for pre-event festivities at all three shows. The event is supported by members of several Italian American organizations such as the Italo American Club, the Italian American Historical Society and by local businesses.
